The exhibition space often isolates Graphic Design creations from the real world, from context (commercial, cultural, historic) and from the function that is necessary for reading and understanding them. I am interested in creating conditions that address this.

An annual exhibit celebrating emerging typographic artists and designers. With over 900 attendees, the opening night was a true moment of Chicago's design community coming together in full force!

Materiality and Meaning in Type Design:

A Public Mural in Smyrna, GA
Selected by the City of Smyrna as one of 20 artists chosen for a citywide commissioned mural initiative. Designed and completed a large-scale public mural contributing to the city’s public art collection and community placemaking efforts.

While maintaining an active studio practice, Thakkar serves as a full-time Professor at Savannah College of Art and Design, Atlanta. In her dual role, she mentors graduate graphic design students in capstone research and advanced research methodologies while fostering foundational skills in freshman students through color theory, visual design systems, design thinking and process.
